Half‑Day Workshop: Pyramid Construction Challenge (Years 3–8)

This workshop is designed to develop pupils’ problem‑solving, teamwork and communication skills through a structured, hands‑on STEM activity. Pupils begin by working individually to construct a basic paper pyramid, learning key techniques and safety considerations. They then progress to working in pairs and finally in larger groups to build a three‑dimensional pyramid structure.

Once completed, pupils test the stability and accuracy of their construction by raising the pyramid to ceiling height, rotating it, and flipping it safely. The session concludes with pupils working collaboratively to dismantle the structure using safe and controlled methods.

The activity integrates Mathematics, Science and Technology, reinforcing spatial reasoning, measurement, structural understanding and safe working practices.
